Inmates who are in the general population in the prison doesn't need to follow a very strict set of rules. The general population of prisoners and visitors can sit together in a large visiting room after a thorough search of the visitors. No more than five visitors are allowed to visit at a time. Visitors can kiss or hug the inmate for just a very brief period at the start and at the end of the visit. Holding hands is the only physical contact that is allowed throughout the visit. These visits are called contact visits.
ADSEG or Intake inmates don't get a contact visit but a non-contact visit. They are separated with glass between them and the visitors. An appointment is necessary before visiting these inmates.
When you enter prison to visit an inmate, you have to go through a metal detector while all your items are read by an X-ray machine to make sure that you don't have anything harmful. You must have a photo id too.
