Ector Country Correctional Center is located in the city of Odessa, Texas. This prison is privately managed by the GEO Warden Bryan Lambert Group and has minimum to medium-security facilities for all of its inmates. At any given time a total of 235 inmates can be held within the prison walls.

The prison, established in 1955, holds both females as well as male inmates and was previously managed by the Community Education Centers as one of the seven CEC-managed facilities. CEC was in contract with three federal agencies; namely the U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Federal Bureau of Prisons and the United States Marshals Service. In the year 2013, eight of the employers working as jailers were sentenced to federal prison for providing inmates with contraband items in return for bribes.

Every visitor must have an up-to-date Government ID and should not be charged with any felony to be allowed for a visit.

Ector County Correctional Center Rules for Visitation

Every visitor is required to be familiar with the rules that are followed within the walls of the Ector Country Correction Center. It is also mandatory for all visitors to be approved by the inmate and by the center for visitation purposes. The correctional center has a dedicated time slot for all its inmates for visitation, thus making an appointment is mandatory.

All inmates within the facility are checked before and after their visitation for security purposes. Visitors are requested to adhere to the rules and regulations about the dress code that is followed within the institution. All individuals are required to have a valid ID card with them at the time and during the visitation.

Those visitors who are under the age of 18 and are family members of an inmate are required to have an adult family member or guardian accompany them to the facility. Non-related children of the inmate are also required to have a parent/guardian to accompany them.

No gadgets or personal belongings are allowed inside the institution at the time of visitation. All visitors need to keep this in mind as they are checked by security before and after their visit with the inmate. Those who wish to visit an inmate but are under parole, community corrections or probation are required to obtain permission from their superintendent and their supervising officer before each visit. Usually, these types of visits are not approved by the Ector County Correctional Center.

Ector Country Correctional Center provides a variety of programs that range from academic training to vocational training for all of its inmates. These programs are aimed at helping inmates to gain knowledge and education that will help them to reform themselves and to become contributing members of society upon their release.

Some of the work programs that are offered inside the prison include training inmates in building maintenance and culinary arts. Inmates are also offered spiritual counseling by Volunteer Spiritual Leaders from the surrounding communities. Basic adult education and GED programs are offered to prisoners who want to complete their education till high-school level. In certain vocational programs, having academic training is required as a qualification.

Some of the other facilities that are provided within Ector County Correctional Center include a law library, where inmates are allowed to study and prepare legal documentation within a particular time slot, games/activities, a gym, haircut services, entertainment/films, etc.
