The Point Mackenzie Correctional Farm, as the name suggests, primarily being a farm, provides inmates with the opportunity to work on a farm. They are taught how to plant, grow and cultivate growing vegetables in open fields. From Broccoli, Mushroom, Radish to may more. Inmates are also taught to attend farm animals, for meat and eggs. From raising pigs and cows, taking care of them on a daily basis, the farm also houses a slaughterhouse.
The inmates have a wholesome experience of working on a farm and provides them an opportunity to get an early release and go out to start their own business of growing food and be a part of the society. As the facility only houses low to minimum sentenced inmates, this experience helps them rehabilitate and an opportunity to improve their lives and provide a scope for livelihood at the same time.
