It is owned and operated by the Illinois Department of Corrections.
Hill Correctional Center is spread over 71 acres of land, 38 acres within the fences. It comprises of 29 buildings. It has 4 housing units, a single intake, and orientation unit, a 17-bed infirmary, a segregation unit, and two main recreational yards. The correctional center works with correctional industries to offer inmates with programs where they can work processing juice, milk, and meat. Vocational skills that are taught to the inmates here include custodial maintenance and many career technologies.

The Hill Correctional Center was opened in October 1986. The mission of Hill Correctional Center is to assist and promote the criminal offenders to leave the facility in good shape than when they arrived. It hopes to give them the best chance to not return to the facility and thus, reducing Illinois’ recidivism rate. The institution does so by offering the inmates with many educational and vocational programs.

Hill Correctional Center Visiting Hours
General population: General population inmates are permitted 7 visits per month, out of which, 2 can be made on the weekends or state holidays. Visiting hours are from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, on all seven days of the week.
Please note that visitors must be present by 3:30 pm in the facility or will not be allowed the visit.
Segregation: Segregation inmates are permitted to have visits Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. Visits over the weekends and holidays are not permitted for inmates in segregation.
Please note that visitors must be at the facility by 11:30 am for visits.
Video visitations: Video visitations can be made from Sunday through Saturday from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm and 4 pm to 5:30 pm. Visitors must log on to the GLT 15 minutes before the scheduled start time.
