James Crabtree Correctional Center Inmate Programs

Several programs are available for inmates who are residing within JCCC. These programs that extend from education to vocational and actual work programs are all meant to help inmates establish themselves in a reformed way upon their re-entry to society. Institutional support and many other groups are responsible for helping inmates on the program that they so choose to pursue within the facility.

One of the prime features of the James Crabtree Correctional Center is its 15-acre garden where only a few select inmates are allowed to work. Inmates grow a variety of food including okra, cucumber, squash, garlic, turnips, melons, etc. All the food that is cultivated in this patch of land is consumed by the inmates themselves and the excess food is stored for the winter months. Inmates belonging to this facility are also allowed to work on road crews, public works, and surrounding communities.
