Standing at 6’1” tall and weighing around 212 lbs, DeAndre Rashun Hopkins is an American NFL professional who plies his trade as a wide receiver for the Arizona Cardinals.

He was born on 6th June 1992 at Central in South Carolina. His father’s name was Harris Steve Hopkins who had died in a car accident. His mother Sabrina Greenlee raised him single-handedly.

Early Days

In his early days, Hopkins went on to join D.W. Daniel High School. He participated in three sports over there – Basketball, football and track, and field.

While he was representing his school, Hopkins had the tally of 57 receptions for 1266 yards could with twenty-eight interceptions & 5 TDs on defense and 18 touchdowns on offense. 

 In the year 2009 – 2010, his basketball team had come out as winners of the South Carolina State Championship. For his extraordinary performance, Hopkins was nominated as the Independent Mail's - Player of the year.

After finishing his school, Hopkins went on to join the Clemson University. He represented the college team known as Clemson Tigers football Team from the year 2020 to 2012.

In his first year, Hopkins had a tally of fifty-two receptions for 637 yards and 4 touchdowns.

In the year 2013, Hopkins finally realized his NFL dream when the Houston Texans signed him for a 7.62 million dollars contract which included a signing bonus of 3.92 million dollars out of which three years earning were guaranteed.

In his debut match against the San Diego Chargers - for 55 yards he had made 5 receptions and his team won the game 31-28. He went on to play 16 games and he started in many of them.

 He had around 52 receptions and 802 receiving yards coupled with 2 TDs. He was nominated to the NFL All-Rookie Team in the 2013 season.

In the year 2014, Hopkins participated in a winning cause against the Washington Redskins with the scoreline reading 17-6. For 89 yards he had four passes caught including a seventy-six-yard touchdown on a pass by Fitzpatrick (the quarterback).

At the end of the year, he had a tally of 1210 yards alongside seventy-six receptions as well as 6 touchdowns.

2015 saw him being elevated to the position of the first-choice receiver. He started the season against the Kansa City Chiefs but in spite of a good performance by his team, the team lost to Kansas 27-20.

However, during week 6 of the season, he earned his AFC Offensive Player of the Week award. In this season he was on the 19th position of the NFL Top 100 Players of 2016.

In the year 2017, Hopkins signed a five year deal with the Houston Texans which was worth 81 million dollars (a contract extension).

In this season he had 1,378 yards under his belt with 96 receptions and 13 touchdowns.

He had subsequently made his way to the First Team-All pro (2017 season) and improved his ranking in the top 100 by two points and reached 17th position.

The 2019 season saw him achieve the mark of 104v receptions, 7 touchdowns coupled with 1,165 yards. In 2020, Hopkins was traded to Arizona Cardinals. To date, he has played in 110 games with 632 receptions and has covered 8,602 yards.

As far as the awards are concerned, he has won the 2013 NFL All-Rookie Team nomination.

He has also named in the NFL Top 100 players list in the years 2016, 2018, and 2019 where his rankings were 19, 13, and 11 respectively.

He also won 4 pro-bowls in the year 2015, 2017,2018, and 2019. Additionally, he was nominated in First Team all-pro in the year 2017,2018, and 2019.
