Everson Griffen Celebrity Life
Born on December 22, 1987, Everson Griffen is an American football defensive end. He was born and raised in Avondale, Arizona, and did his schooling from Agua Fria High School in Avondale, Arizona.
He was a part of the Owls high school football team as a defensive lineman. As a junior, he outshined every other player from his excellent games.
His outstanding performance continued in the senior class as well as he managed to record 77 tackles, 16 sacks, and 1 fumble recovery. On the defensive end also, he ran for 1,251 yards on 159 carries.
Everson was showered with many awards in his school such as Super Prep Player of the Year award, Parade All-American, EA Sports All-American first team, Superprep All-Farwest, PrepStar All-West, and many more.
He did his graduation from the University of Southern California, where he played for the USC Trojans football team. During his college days, he played brilliantly in freshman season, sophomore, and junior season, but he did not play in his senior season as he opted for the NFL draft.
Everson decided to drop out of college in the last year and enter the 2010 NFL draft. He was picked up by the Minnesota Vikings in the fourth round. Griffen was not available in all the games with Vikings and played in only 11 games in which he scored only 11 tackles.
In the next 2011 NFL season, he played all the 16 matches for the Vikings in which he performed brilliantly. In this season, he was able to grab the first sack of his career by bringing down quarterback Josh Freeman.
In the 2012 NFL season, he missed some games because of the death of his mother. Griffen finished the season with 5 sacks, 1 interception, and 16 quarterbacks.
The next season was not a very impressive one for Griffen as he managed to score only 27 tackles, 5.5 sacks, and 1 forced fumble. On March 9, 2014, the Vikings extended the contract with Griffen for another 5 years for $42.5 million.
In a match against the Buffaloes in the 2014 NFL season, Griffen showed his career-best figures. He managed to score 9 tackles and 3 sacks in a single game. This outstanding performance gave him the Defensive Player of the Week award.
The season ended with 57 combined tackles, 1 forced fumble, 3 passes, and 12 sacks for him. It was one of the best NFL seasons for Griffen.
On July 26, 2017, Griffen was given another contract extension of 4 years for $58 million. He continued playing for the Vikings and giving excellent performances. In 2018, he was ranked number 18 on the list of Top 100 NFL players.
On February 20, 2020, Griffen decided to become a free agent and opted out of the contract. This did not go well with the franchise and they called him a mental.
Griffen is married to his beautiful wife, Tiffany. They have three sons together. Everson has been in controversies some times. On January 28, 2011, the police arrested him on the charge of intoxication.
He was released but soon after, he was arrested for driving without a valid driving license. The franchise sent him a letter suggesting he provide a valid mental health certificate because he misbehaved on the field and opted out of the contract all of a sudden.
Recently, Griffen was also involved in a threat crime. He threatened to shoot someone who was not allowing him to stay in a hotel room.
After these incidents, he was sent to a mental hospital for his complete evaluation.
