Early Life

Kearse’s father was a part of the U.S. Army as a non-commissioned officer, which is how he grew up in a military atmosphere.

He went to Lakewood’s Lakes High School, where he participated in high school football. Kearse achieved eight touchdowns and was famous for catching 54 passes for 903 yards during his senior year.

 
College Years

Kearse played for the Washington Huskies of the Pac-12 Conference while attending the University of Washington. He participated in all the 12 games during his freshman year in 2008, having two touchdowns and 20 receptions for 301 yards.

For his sophomore year, he started nine out of the 12 games and had eight touchdowns. Kearse was also named second-team All-Pac-10 for two consecutive years. In 2011, he had seven touchdowns as a senior.

Career

After being signed on by the Seattle Seahawks in April 2012, Kearse had his NFL debut on November 4 against the Minnesota Vikings.

As a rookie, he played seven games for the Seattle Seahawks in the year 2012, where he had three catches for 31 yards. The player went through LASIK surgery soon after in order to improve his vision.

The very first score of the player’s professional career took place during the first week of the 2013 season.

The team was playing against the Carolina Panthers, and Kearse went on to catch a 43-yard touchdown pass, leading the Seahawks to victory. He played a total of 15 games that year and had 4 touchdowns and 346 receiving yards.
 
During the NFC Championship Game in January 2014, Kearse was up against the San Francisco 49ers, and he caught a 35-yard touchdown pass.

He also had four catches for 65 yards in the Super Bowl game played against the Denver Broncos. The game was the first Super Bowl win for both the player as well as his team.
 
Kearse played a total of 15 games during the regular season in 2014, where he had one touchdown and 537 receiving yards.

The player ended up throwing the very first pass of his NFL career in a Super Bowl XLVIII rematch where his team was up against the Denver Broncos.

During the NFC Championship Game against the Green Bay Packers, Kearse had a touchdown that led his team to victory.

For the 2015 season, Kearse caught a total of eight passes, and also had his first touchdown of the given season during the fifth week. By week 11, he had two touchdowns and four receptions for 47 yards.

Kearse set a whole new record when he had 110 receiving yards in a match against the Cleveland Browns. He had one touchdown and 41 passes for 511 yards during the 2016 season.

Kearse joined the New York Jets in September 2017. He had seven receptions for 59 yards in his debut game.

Kearse scored two touchdowns and four receptions for 64 yards in the second week while playing against the Oakland Raiders. Kearse finished the 2017 season with five receiving touchdowns and 65 receptions for 810 receiving yards.

The Detroit Lions signed Kearse on June 6, 2019. During the first week of the preseason against the New England Patriots, he broke his leg and was placed on injured reserve on August 10, 2019.
