Kevin Knox II’s full name is Kevin Devon Knox II and he is an American Basketball player. He was born in Phoenix, Arizona on the 11th of August 1999. His height is listed as six feet seven inches. Currently, he is playing for the New York Knicks.

High School Basketball Career

Knox began his basketball career in high school. He did his high school in Tampa, Florida where he studied in Tampa Catholic High School. During his junior years, his points per game were 30.1 and his rebounds per game were 11.2. Also, his assets were 2.4. During this time he helped the Crusaders win the district and regional championships.

 
In the 2016 Florida Class 4A, his team lost to the Bolles in the state semifinals. During the summer of 2016, Knox joined the E1T1 United which played on the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League. This was his AAU team. While with the E1T1 United, he reached his highest career score so far.

That was 28 points. This feat happened on the 14th of May 2016 when E1T1 United beat the All Ohio Red. While playing for the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League his points per game were 19.6 while his rebounds per game were 7.6.

College Basketball Career

Knox’s talent placed him in the five-star recruit category and many had considered him to among the best players of the 2017 class. He was offered seats at the University of North Carolina, University of Missouri, Duke University, University of Kentucky, and Florida State University.

Out of these, he chose to play for the University of Kentucky. He announced his decision on the 6th of May 2017. Around the same time, he got an offer to become a professional basketball player in the Chinese Basketball Association which he turned down.

 

In his freshman season, the young Wildcats with him managed a 10-8 conference record. This placed the team in the fourth position in the SEC final count. During this period his points per game were 15.9.

Knox was considered a three-point shooting threat of his team, but that did not stop him from playing the big minutes. The number of minutes he played made the coach of Kentucky Wildcats John Calipari complain that Knox’s minutes per game were too high.

That did not stop Knox from named a member of the First All-SEC and All-Rookie team. With the help of Knox, the managed to improve their fortunes. The timing of the improvement was right and the team won the SEC tournament. In the finals, they beat the basketball team from Tennessee. During the game, Knox points were 18 while his rebounds were seven.

Professional Career

During Knox’s second year he decided to forgo his three-year eligibility to play college basketball and become a player in the NBA. He announced that he wanted to be a part of the 2018 NBA Draft. He announced the sixth of April 2018. To meet this goal, Knox hired an agent.

Knox was among the players selected by the New York Knicks on the 21st of June 2018. He was the ninth player chosen by the Knicks that day. The Knicks announced that Knox has signed up with them. He sat on the bench till the 17th of October when he was given his first game. During the game, he got 10 points.

Besides that, he had managed a block along with two steals. In the following game against Brooklyn Nets, he scored 17 points along with six rebounds. That was a team-high. However, the team lost against the Nets. The Knicks lost the next match against the Boston Celtics and during the match, Knox’s left ankle got sprained.

Knox scored 26 points combined with a block, a steal, four assists, and four rebounds came in an overtime win against Milwaukee Bucks. NBA Rookie of the Month Award for December 2018 was awarded to Knox. In a losing match against Philadelphia 76ers, Knox managed to score 31 points. During that match, he managed two steals and seven rebounds.

During the 2019-20 season, he has a PTS is 7.5 while his AST and TRB are 1.1 and 3.2 respectively. The statistics are for the 42 games he played.
