Born on the 11th of January, 1990, Malik Barron Jackson, famously known as Malik Jackson, is an American defensive lineman. He played for Philadelphia Eagles of the NFL.

Jackson was recruited during the 5th round of 2012’s NFL Draft by Denver Broncos. He has played with Jacksonville Jaguars as well.


Jackson started his informal career by playing football at Birmingham High School. He was named Super Prep-All-Farwest and Cal-Hi Sports All-State first team in 2007, during his time at high school.
 
From 2008-09, Jackson attended the University of Southern California and was later transferred, in 2010, to the University of Tennessee, where he played under coach Derek Dooley.

On the 6th of November, 2010, he played against Memphis Tigers in which he made a 44 yards return. By the end of 2010’s season, Jackson had 48 tackles in total.

He also made 5 defense passes, 1 forced fumble with 1 interception. Later, in the 2011’s season, Jackson made 56 tackles in total along with 2 defense passes, 2.5 sacks, and 1 forced fumble.

On the 23rd of January, 2012, it was declared that Jackson would play in 2012’s Senior Bowl. On the 28th of January, he played for Washington Redskins but lost for 23-13.

Jackson later attended NFL Scouting Combine in Indiana and performed the combine drills as a defensive tackle.

On the 26th of March, the same year, Jackson went on to attend Tennessee’s pro day with other teammates. He chose to perform only in positional drills for the team representatives and the 21 scouts that participated.

In preparation for the National Football League, Jackson gained 20 lbs and reached 290 pounds during the pro day. During the pre-draft process, he was projected as the 6th or 7th round pick by the draft experts of NFL.
 
Denver Broncos recruited Jackson in the 5th round of the 2012’s NFL Draft. He was the 2nd defensive lineman recruited by Denver Broncos in 2012.

On the 18th of May, 2012, Jackson signed a 4-year contract with Denver Broncos for $2.3 million, along with a $213,612 signing bonus. During his training, the head coach, John Fox, assigned Jackson as the backup right defensive behind Derek Wolfe, a rookie as well.

Later that year, on the 17th of September, Jackson made his debut in National Football League against Atlanta Falcons but lost.

In the following game, Jackson made the first tackle of his career. He completed his rookie season with 5 tackles in 14 games.

On the 12th of January, 2012, he played his first National Football League playoff game. But Broncos lost in the AFC Divisional round to Baltimore Ravens.

On the 9th of March, 2016 Jackson signed a 6-year contract with Jacksonville Jaguars for $85.5 million along with a $10 million signing bonus.

He wore no.90 since the no.97 was already assigned to Roy Miller. Three weeks into the 2016 season, Jackson had two tackles and made his first sack, although the team lost.

In the 12th week matchup, he made 5 combined tackles. Jackson completed the season with a combined 33 tackles and 4 pass deflections for a total of 16 games.

He went on to play for Jaguars until the beginning of 2019. On the 8th of March, 2019, Jaguars released Jackson due to several salary issues.


On the 13th of March, 2019, Jackson signed with Philadelphia Eagles a 3-year contract for $30 million. During the 2019 season’s first game, Jackson’s foot suffered an injury in the game against Washington Redskins.

Jackson has a twin brother named Marquis, who plays for BC Lions of Canadian Football League as a defensive end.
