Zayn Malik Celebrity Life
Zayn Malik is one of the worlds leading heartthrobs. But this gorgeous man with his talented vocals wasn’t always famous. He was once just a normal boy, born and raised in Bradford, England, to English-Pakistani parents.
Zayn had always loved to sing and perform, and so at the young age of 17, he took his shot, by auditioning on the Competitive TV series, The X Factor.
For those of you who may not know, The X Factor is a British music competition created by Simon Cowell. People from all over the country audition to showcase their musical talent and potentially win big.
A prize is obviously a recording contract, but for most finalists, the notoriety that follows being on the show usually leads to fame.
Zayn auditioned in Manchester in 2010, with the hope that someone qualified would tell him he could sing well. His initial audition was not aired on TV, but all three judges enjoyed his rendition of “Let me love you” by Mario. They sent him through to the next round.
In the second stage of auditions, called “Bootcamp”, Zayn and everyone else competed by singing and performing a dance routine. Unfortunately, Zayn, along with four other noteworthy boys, were eliminated.
Those boys were Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, and Liam Payne. These five boys were later called back and asked to continue through the competition as a group, and so, ‘One Direction’ was made.
Although they didn’t win The X Factor, Simon Cowell saw their potential and helped skyrocket One Direction to one of the best boy bands ever.
In 2014, with a total of £70 million between them, One Direction was named the world’s richest boyband ever.
Now, as you may well know, Zayn Malik eventually left One Direction for a direction of his own. He officially quit the band in 2015, after 5 years of hard work, friendship, and beautiful music.
His exit, however, and the immense pressure that followed, didn’t mark the end of his journey. His strong vocals, wide range, and raw talent contributed greatly to his solo career.
He branched out, and experimented with his own creativity, leading to much success.
A short while after quitting the band, Zayn released his first single “Pillowtalk”, and two months later, his first solo album ‘Mind of Mine’.
Pillowtalk quickly rose to the top of the charts in the U.K. and the States, becoming one of the best songs of 2016. He also dabbled with a few collaborations, such as his song with Taylor Swift – “I Don’t Want to Live Forever”.
This song with Taylor was featured in Fifty Shades Darker and won an MTV award.
Other noteworthy achievements include Zayn’s cameo in the 2018 movie, Ocean’s 8, and his contribution to the live-action remake of Aladdin in 2019.
He teamed up with Zhavia Ward, to perform the movie's most beloved soundtrack, “A Whole New World”. Not to mention his collaborations with fashion brands, such as Versace and Giuseppe Zanotti.
Fast forward to 2020 and Zayn Malik or Zayn as he is now known, is still as famous as when he first joined One Direction. He has an immense fan base and a very successful career. He’s now 27 years old and worth a whopping $70 million.
He has won a number of noteworthy music awards, is involved with excellent charities, and has a hand in a few good brand endorsement deals. Oh, he’s also dating supermodel Gigi Hadid.
And to think, it was all because at 17 years old, he mustered up the courage to put himself out there and audition for The X Factor, carpe diem as the saying goes.
